Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the RankTail application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms apply to all users of the App, including store owners and authorized team members.

2. Description of Service

RankTail is a Shopify application that uses artificial intelligence to generate SEO-optimized product collections for your Shopify store. The service includes:

• AI-Powered Campaigns: Automated, semi-automated, and manual campaign modes that analyze your product catalog, discover keyword opportunities, and generate collection pages with SEO-optimized titles, descriptions, meta tags, and FAQ content.
• Collection Publishing: One-click publishing of generated collections to your Shopify store, including automated product matching based on collection rules.
• Theme Extension: A Shopify theme app extension that renders FAQ accordions, related collection links, and backlink network content on your collection pages.
• Community Backlink Network: An opt-in cross-merchant linking program that places relevant external links on your collection pages and your links on other merchants' pages to improve SEO authority (see Section 9).
• Analytics & Projections: Revenue projections, traffic estimates, and performance tracking for your published collections, including optional Google Analytics 4 integration.

3. Account and Eligibility

• You must have an active Shopify store to use RankTail.
• You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Shopify account.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including collections published and content generated.

4. Plans, Pricing, and Credits

RankTail offers multiple subscription plans with different collection limits. All billing is handled through Shopify's billing system.

• Free Plan: Includes up to 5 collections at no cost. No credit card required.
• Paid Plans: Offer higher collection limits and additional features, billed monthly through Shopify.
• Credits: Each plan includes a set number of collection credits. Credits represent tracked collections — both the initial generation and ongoing SEO monitoring of those collections. Published collections continue to count against your credit limit for as long as they remain active.
• Expansion Packs: Additional one-time or recurring credit packs may be purchased to increase your collection limit.
• You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
• We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers will be notified before any price changes affect their account.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of Shopify's terms of service.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App.
• Use automated tools to excessively access or scrape the App beyond normal usage.
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the App.
• Use the App to generate content that is misleading, defamatory, or infringes on third-party rights.
• Manipulate or abuse the Community Backlink Network, including creating fake stores or collections solely for link-building purposes.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App.

6. AI-Generated Content

• RankTail uses AI to generate collection titles, descriptions, meta tags, keywords, FAQ content, and internal linking suggestions.
• You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before publishing it to your store. RankTail provides an approval step for keyword suggestions and allows editing of all generated content.
• We do not guarantee that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or free from errors.
• You retain full ownership of the content generated for your store and are responsible for its accuracy and compliance with applicable laws, including advertising and consumer protection regulations.
• We are not liable for any claims arising from AI-generated content published on your store.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, features, algorithms, and documentation, is owned by RankTail and protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App in accordance with these Terms. Content generated by the App for your store belongs to you. The RankTail name, logo, and branding are trademarks of RankTail and may not be used without our prior written consent.

8. Data and Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using the App, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Community Backlink Network

RankTail offers an opt-in Community Backlink Network that places relevant external links between participating merchants' collection pages to mutually improve SEO authority.

• Opt-In by Default: The Backlink Network is enabled by default for all plans. You may opt out at any time in your App settings.
• How It Works: When you publish a collection, RankTail may place links to other participating merchants' collection pages on your store, and your collection links may appear on their stores. Links are matched based on Shopify product categories and keyword relevance.
• Control & Exclusions: You may exclude specific domains (e.g., competitors), exclude specific product categories, and remove individual external links from any collection. When you remove a link, a replacement is automatically assigned.
• Opting Out: If you opt out, all external backlink network links will be removed from your collections, and your collections will be removed from other merchants' stores.
• No Guarantee: Participation in the Backlink Network does not guarantee improved search engine rankings. Link quality and SEO outcomes depend on many factors beyond our control.

10. Theme Extension

RankTail installs a Shopify theme app extension on your store that may include an app embed (for structured data injection) and visible app blocks (FAQ accordion, related collections, backlink network links). These blocks must be enabled by you in the Shopify theme editor. You may disable or remove any block at any time. The theme extension does not modify your theme code — it operates through Shopify's app block system.

11. Google Analytics Integration

RankTail offers optional Google Analytics 4 (GA4) integration to provide real-time traffic and revenue data for your collections. This integration requires you to authorize RankTail to access your GA4 property through Google OAuth. You may disconnect GA4 at any time in your App settings. RankTail accesses GA4 data in read-only mode and does not modify your analytics configuration.

12. Service Availability

• We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the App.
• We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications that temporarily affect availability.
• We are not liable for any losses resulting from service interruptions or downtime.
• The App depends on third-party services (Shopify, OpenAI, Google) that are outside our control.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RankTail and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will improve your search engine rankings, increase traffic, or generate revenue. SEO results depend on many factors beyond our control, including search engine algorithms, competition, and content quality. Revenue projections shown in the App are estimates and should not be relied upon as guarantees of actual performance.

15. Termination

You may stop using the App and uninstall it at any time through the Shopify admin. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms or engage in activity that harms the App, the Backlink Network, or other users. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately, your collections in the Backlink Network will be removed, and your store data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and if necessary, binding arbitration.
